about

A song about overcoming life's darkest moments... and surviving!
This acoustic version was recorded in January 2012.
It is the first recording Suzanne has released since 1999!

lyrics

No one has died
I remind myself all the time
And you know it's sad
But that's become my bottom line
Nothing can harm me
Cuz I've seen much worse than this
You've gotta laugh
When you've been to the bottom of the abyss

God, are you there?
Won't you please send me a sign?
One ray of sunshine
Through the clouds that fill my mind
Make something happen
That won't cause me to cry
That won't leave me asking
Why, why, why, why, why?

Everyone says: "Things will get better"
Everyone says: "It's a matter of time"
But I'm so afraid to turn a corner
Only to find there's no peace of mind
There's death and illness and strife
And a friend who decides
To take his life
And a lover who leaves
In the middle of the night
And nothing
Ever seems
To be right

Yet I see wild horses
Pink, palomino and white
No one can stop me
From visualizing freedom and light
Nothing can harm me
Cuz I've lived through much worse than this
You've gotta laugh
When you've been to the bottom of the abyss
And you've gotta laugh
When you've been to the bottom of the abyss
You've gotta laugh
When you've been to the bottom of the abyss

about

Suzanne Nuttall Ottawa, Ontario

Suzanne's Mom once said she was singing "Petit Papa Noël" by her first Christmas. Suzanne was born in June, so this is a stretch. Most likely by her second Christmas.

Suzanne sang in roots duo Bare Bones and soul/funk band Sue de Nym. Recordings and videos can be tracked down.

In 2011, Suzanne decided to release songs one at a time in the modern digital paradigm.
