about

Love, longing and loss, enveloped in a gorgeous 9-piece string arrangement with an undertow of slide guitar.

lyrics

White picket fence
Trips to the mall
A set of rings
To say it all

Glowing TV
Lights up the night
You’re safe and sound
You never fight

And you’ve got
Your trophy wife
And you’ve got
A picture-perfect life
All you want
Is peace of mind
But that you can’t have
Cuz your body won’t lie

A wall of smiles
Carefully cropped
A figurine
Forever stopped

The needle deep
Within a groove
You try to dance
You cannot move

Cuz you’ve got
Your trophy wife
And you’ve got
A picture-perfect life
You believe
In compromise
You can’t look in her eyes
Cuz your body won’t lie

Your body won’t lie
No your body won’t lie
It’s not what you say
It’s how you sigh
Notice the way
You are skin to skin
Notice the way
You never let her in

Cuz you’ve got
Your trophy wife
And you’ve got
A picture perfect life
All you want
Is peace of mind
But that you can’t have
Cuz your body won’t lie
No your body won’t lie
Your body won’t lie

Life is so full
Life is so fine
We are like stars
Almost divine

A big THANK YOU goes out to my family and friends for the love and support. I send my gratitude and respect to Garfield Nuttall. Special thanks to my longboarding palominos for the stoke, Lisa W. for the long conversation, Erika Nielsen for the musical brain download, João for hooking me up, the musicians who shared their talent on this recording, Ford for the epic arrangement, Michael for an unwavering devotion to creating such beauty... and Pinelopi for believing in this song early on, encouraging me to go deeper and, most of all, joining me in the writing of it.

about

Suzanne Nuttall Toronto, Ontario

Suzanne's Mom once said she was singing "Petit Papa Noël" by her first Christmas. Suzanne was born in June, so this is a stretch. Most likely by her second Christmas.

Suzanne sang in roots duo Bare Bones and soul/funk band Sue de Nym. Recordings and videos can be tracked down.

In 2011, Suzanne decided to release songs one at a time in the modern digital paradigm.
